Sour pen device IQOS in Nouméa: the flat shortlist
Sour in Nouméa: 19 units tested over 7 weeks, pen device formats, priced per 10 ml for New Caledonia.
Coil life, liquid cost and the sour habit
Sour pen device reviews tend to be written after one tank. We run 19 units and 7 days per unit, because that is where the honest answer changes.
Sour prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Nouméa that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within XPF1.92 per 10 ml.
If you only read one line: the pen device you buy decides how long sour tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a sour pen device really costs in Nouméa
Sour in a pen device is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In Nouméa the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested sour in a pen device
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 6–12 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in New Caledonia, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Coil type inside the pen device, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Spare parts availability for pen device in New Caledonia, since tanks and pods go first.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Batch code and production date, so a sour bottle turned in 7 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where sour goes wrong
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why sour tastes flat after two days.
- Buying the cheapest pen device available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Chasing a discount on a pen device that then needs an adapter nobody in New Caledonia stocks.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should sour start at?
Start at whatever New Caledonia allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a pen device.
Why does sour taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pen device units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the sour blend itself harsh.
Is sour legal to sell in New Caledonia?
New Caledonia applies French-style rules with a local import permit.
