How to tell a good pod kit from a repack
If you are looking at sour in New Caledonia, the first question is not strength. It is whether the pod kit you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in New Caledonia. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
If you only read one line: the pod kit you buy decides how long sour tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a sour pod kit really costs in Nouméa
If you are looking at sour in New Caledonia, the first question is not strength. It is whether the pod kit you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
How we tested sour in a pod kit
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 6–12 business days.
- Pick the pod kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Batch code and production date, so a sour bottle turned in 9 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Spare parts availability for pod kit in New Caledonia, since tanks and pods go first.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
Where sour goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest pod kit available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Mixing sour with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long sour in Nouméa survives.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should sour start at?
Start at whatever New Caledonia allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a pod kit.
Why does sour taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pod kit units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the sour blend itself harsh.
How long does sour in a pod kit last?
In Nouméa we measured 9 to 22 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
