Sour pod kit IQOS in Nouméa: the guide shortlist
Sour in Nouméa: 15 units tested over 4 weeks, pod kit formats, priced per 10 ml for New Caledonia.
What the label on Sour is allowed to say
Most people searching IQOS in New Caledonia are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
We run sour the same way in Nouméa: same pod kit, same 4 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
If you only read one line: the pod kit you buy decides how long sour tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a sour pod kit really costs in Nouméa
The honest read on sour: 15 units through the same routine over 4 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
How we tested sour in a pod kit
- Choose strength against the ceiling in New Caledonia, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 6–12 business days.
- Pick the pod kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Stock depth: 15 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Coil type inside the pod kit, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every sour bottle shipped into New Caledonia.
Where sour goes wrong
- Chasing a discount on a pod kit that then needs an adapter nobody in New Caledonia stocks.
- Mixing sour with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in New Caledonia accept nicotine freight.
The rules that apply here
New Caledonia applies French-style rules with a local import permit. Shipping of nicotine to New Caledonia runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Retail sales in New Caledonia sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should sour start at?
Start at whatever New Caledonia allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a pod kit.
How much does a pod kit cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in Nouméa: about XPF2.71 per 10 ml liquid plus XPF39 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
Why does sour taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the pod kit units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the sour blend itself harsh.
