Ordering IQOS to Nouméa: the practical version
Sour in Nouméa reaches the shelf in box mod formats, and the discounted ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
We run sour the same way in Nouméa: same box mod, same 7 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
The short version: sour in Nouméa works if the box mod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a sour box mod really costs in Nouméa
The honest read on sour: 9 units through the same routine over 7 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
How we tested sour in a box mod
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the box mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 6–12 business days.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a box mod arrives sealed but wrong.
- Stock depth: 9 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in New Caledonia, not a suggestion.
Where sour goes wrong
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why sour tastes flat after two days.
- Buying the cheapest box mod available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Ignoring the batch date on a box mod and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
New Caledonia applies French-style rules with a local import permit.
Wholesale lines to New Caledonia need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should sour start at?
Start at whatever New Caledonia allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a box mod.
Why does sour taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the box mod units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the sour blend itself harsh.
How much does a box mod cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in Nouméa: about XPF2.25 per 10 ml liquid plus XPF45 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
