Plain sub-ohm kit IQOS in Nouméa: the budget shortlist
Plain in Nouméa: 11 units tested over 8 weeks, sub-ohm kit formats, priced per 10 ml for New Caledonia.
Where buyers go wrong with plain in New Caledonia
Plain in a sub-ohm kit is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In Nouméa the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
Plain prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Nouméa that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within XPF3.08 per 10 ml.
If you only read one line: the sub-ohm kit you buy decides how long plain tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a plain sub-ohm kit really costs in Nouméa
Ordering into Nouméa usually means waiting 6–12 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
How we tested plain in a sub-ohm kit
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 6–12 business days.
- Pick the sub-ohm kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Coil type inside the sub-ohm kit, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Stock depth: 11 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 6–12 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where plain goes wrong
- Ordering in bulk without checking whether couriers in New Caledonia accept nicotine freight.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long plain in Nouméa survives.
- Treating the advertised XPF46 entry kit as the real cost when refills run XPF3.08 per 10 ml.

New Caledonia applies French-style rules with a local import permit.

Why does plain taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the sub-ohm kit units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the plain blend itself harsh.
How much does a sub-ohm kit cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in Nouméa: about XPF3.08 per 10 ml liquid plus XPF46 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
