Plain pod kit IQOS in Nouméa: the cheap shortlist
Plain in Nouméa: 13 units tested over 2 weeks, pod kit formats, priced per 10 ml for New Caledonia.
Coil life, liquid cost and the plain habit
Plain prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Nouméa that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within XPF2.47 per 10 ml.
Plain in a pod kit is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In Nouméa the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
If you only read one line: the pod kit you buy decides how long plain tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a plain pod kit really costs in Nouméa
Ordering into Nouméa usually means waiting 6–12 business days. Plan the reorder around that, not around the flavour you like best.
How we tested plain in a pod kit
- Choose strength against the ceiling in New Caledonia, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 6–12 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 6–12 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in New Caledonia, not a suggestion.
- Stock depth: 13 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
Where plain goes wrong
- Chasing a discount on a pod kit that then needs an adapter nobody in New Caledonia stocks.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why plain tastes flat after two days.
- Mixing plain with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in New Caledonia sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should plain start at?
Start at whatever New Caledonia allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a pod kit.
How much does a pod kit cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in Nouméa: about XPF2.47 per 10 ml liquid plus XPF29 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
How long does plain in a pod kit last?
In Nouméa we measured 2 to 13 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
