Licorice in Nouméa: 20 units tested over 3 weeks, cartomizer formats, priced per 10 ml for New Caledonia.
Coil life, liquid cost and the licorice habit
Licorice prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Nouméa that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within XPF2.84 per 10 ml.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in New Caledonia. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
The short version: licorice in Nouméa works if the cartomizer, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a licorice cartomizer really costs in Nouméa

How we tested licorice in a cartomizer
- Choose strength against the ceiling in New Caledonia, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the cartomizer that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- A dated dispatch promise: before 14:00 same day, tracked, so no order is held to a warehouse cut-off.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a cartomizer arrives sealed but wrong.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 6–12 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Stock depth: 20 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
Where licorice goes wrong
- Treating the advertised XPF45 entry kit as the real cost when refills run XPF2.84 per 10 ml.
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Ignoring the batch date on a cartomizer and discovering the listed price was for old stock.

Frequently asked questions
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On licorice the budget price and the premium price can sit within XPF2.84 per 10 ml once 6–12 business days is counted.
Can I order IQOS online in New Caledonia?
Yes, tracked dispatch before 14:00, and delivery lands in 6–12 business days. Stock is batch-traced, so the bottle you receive carries a dated code.
Why does licorice taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the cartomizer units we ran, a coil past 7 days turned the licorice blend itself harsh.
