Coil life, liquid cost and the iced habit
Most people searching IQOS in New Caledonia are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
We run iced the same way in Nouméa: same prefilled pod, same 5 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Below is the run we did for this search: 22 units, prefilled pod, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a iced prefilled pod really costs in Nouméa
Iced prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Nouméa that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within XPF2.44 per 10 ml.
How we tested iced in a prefilled pod
- Choose strength against the ceiling in New Caledonia, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the prefilled pod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every iced bottle shipped into New Caledonia.
- Spare parts availability for prefilled pod in New Caledonia, since tanks and pods go first.
- Batch code and production date, so a iced bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where iced goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest prefilled pod available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why iced tastes flat after two days.
- Treating the advertised XPF62 entry kit as the real cost when refills run XPF2.44 per 10 ml.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should iced start at?
Start at whatever New Caledonia allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a prefilled pod.
How long does iced in a prefilled pod last?
In Nouméa we measured 5 to 22 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On iced the budget price and the premium price can sit within XPF2.44 per 10 ml once 6–12 business days is counted.
