There is no single best way to buy IQOS in New Caledonia. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in New Caledonia. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
If you only read one line: the starter kit you buy decides how long caramel tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a caramel starter kit really costs in Nouméa
Caramel prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Nouméa that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within XPF3.18 per 10 ml.
How we tested caramel in a starter kit
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in New Caledonia, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 6–12 business days.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in New Caledonia, not a suggestion.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a starter kit arrives sealed but wrong.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Stock depth: 17 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
Where caramel goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a starter kit and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Chasing a discount on a starter kit that then needs an adapter nobody in New Caledonia stocks.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why caramel tastes flat after two days.

Frequently asked questions
Why does caramel taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the starter kit units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the caramel blend itself harsh.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On caramel the budget price and the premium price can sit within XPF3.18 per 10 ml once 6–12 business days is counted.
How long does caramel in a starter kit last?
In Nouméa we measured 5 to 17 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
